I'm A Disaster Waiting to Happen Again

LAAGAFBLA08, Phantom Galleries, Los Angeles, 2008

The installation piece, I'm a Disaster Waiting to Happen Again, relates to the story of the shipwreck of the S.S. Richard Montgomery, which sank off the coast of England in 1944 holding 1,500 tons of ammunition. On the 4th of September, the Montgomery dragged anchor, broke her back, and split in two where she remains today with her masts projecting from the water. The wreck has the capacity to spontaneously detonate with the potential to create a 3-meter tidal wave on par with a small nuclear explosion.
